New!   Practicing Hospitality: The Joy of Serving Others
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.   —Hebrews 13:2
Welcoming others is a cornerstone of godly behavior, and scripture calls all believers to the practice of hospitality. But sometimes we feel inadequate to this task. Does welcoming strangers require a beautiful home, gourmet food, and expensive gifts? Sometimes we worry that what we have to offer isn't enough.
In Practicing Hospitality, Pat Ennis and Lisa Tatlock describe the theological and practical aspects of providing hospitality to guests and strangers. They examine the scriptural basis of God's plan for hospitality and the process of developing the Christian character necessary to practice it generously and creatively. Knowing that hospitality to guests and strangers originates in a well-ordered home, the authors also discuss biblical principles of home and family which build a strong foundation for extending welcome to those outside the family—from friends and guests all the way to strangers, travelers, and people from other cultures.
A valuable tool for new homemakers, as well as experienced practitioners of hospitality—and for anyone who wants inspiration and insight into the process of welcoming others. This book offers guidance in a practice of hospitality that is a joy for the one who welcomes, and a blessing and source of encouragement to the guest.

New!   Signs of the Spirit: An Interpretation of Jonathan Edwards' Religious Affections
Treatise on Religious Affections, by Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758), is arguably one of the most thorough and profound examinations ever written of a Christian believer's internal experience--as well as what these spiritual experiences mean and how to interpret them.
But in its original form, many lay readers find Edwards' complex Puritain prose too difficult to wade through. For this reason, Dr. Sam Storms offers Signs of the Spirit: An Interpretation of Jonathan Edwards' Religious Affections for contemporary readers.
Carefully adapted from the original, Signs of the Spirit keeps Edwards' basic outline and much of his actual wording, and at the same time makes it much more readable for a wider audience. For both the student of theology and the interested layperson, this book provides important and time-tested guidance in the Chrisitan quest to understand how God speaks to us, and encourages us to become more sensitive to the meaning of personal spiritual experience, as well as more skilled in understanding its nuances.

FREE DOWNLOADS!   My Conversion
. . . I was once preaching on conversion and salvation, and I felt, as preachers often do, that it was dry work to tell this story. A dull, dull tale it was to me. Suddenly, the thought crossed my mind, "Why, you are a poor, lost, ruined sinner yourself. Tell it, tell it as you received it. Begin to tell of the grace of God as you trust you feel it yourself." Why, then my eyes began to be fountains of tears. Those hearers who had nodded their heads began to wake up. They listened because they were hearing something that the speaker himself felt and that they recognized as being true to him even if it was not true to them . . . — from Chapter 1
So Charles Spurgeon describes the experience of inspiration that affirmed for him the importance of his own story of conversion in his work as a preacher and evangelist, and encouraged him to record the story in writing. He recognized the story's value—not just as a private event but as a guide, model, and inspiration for all believers. Written by one of the greatest preachers of the modern age, My Conversion is an intimate view of Spurgeon's most life-changing encounter with God.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) converted to Christianity at the age of fifteen. By the age of twenty-two, he was the most popular preacher in England and remained so for the latter half of the 1800s. He frequently spoke to crowds over 10,000 in the days before electronic amplification. Known as the "Prince of Preachers," he delivered nearly thirty-six hundred sermons throughout his life. A prolific writer as well, many of Spurgeon's works remain in print to this day.
