The Chronological Study Bible (NIV and NKJV) is a great tool for gaining a historic understanding of God’s Word. But what exactly is a chronological study Bible and how is it helpful? Let’s take a look inside.

WHAT IS A CHRONOLOGICAL STUDY BIBLE?

If you have ever used a study Bible in the Olive Tree App, you know that the study notes are typically read in conjunction with a separate Bible text. But a chronological study Bible is the exception to this rule. Why? Because the main reason to own a chronological Bible is so that you can read through the Bible in chronological order!

So, when you open this resource in the app, you’ll see the Bible text and be able to use the verse chooser. The only difference is that you’ll navigate through different “epochs” or eras of time to read sections of corresponding Scripture.

WHAT IS A CHRONOLOGICAL STUDY BIBLE?

Study Bibles contain tidbits of great information sprinkled throughout the Bible text. They give you insights you might not have known otherwise. The Chronological Study Bible (NIV and NKJV) uses its notes to teach you about the history and culture of the Bible.

Inside you’ll find:

  • The entire NIV text with the translator’s notes, arranged in chronological order
  • Full-color illustrations of places and artifacts that place you inside the era you’re reading about
  • Fascinating articles that connect the Bible to world history and culture
  • Daily Life Notes that explain how people lived in Bible times
  • Time Panels and Charts show the flow of Bible history
  • In-text maps of the Biblical world

WHY GET A DIGITAL COPY?

Here’s a few reasons why using this resource in the app is way more helpful to your study time:

  1. You can tap on images and enlarge them
  2. Tap on verses referenced notes to open them (in context!) in a pop-up window
  3. Reading a different Bible? The resource guide will let you know if this study Bible has any information on what you’re reading
  4. You can make unlimited notes and highlights that sync between your devices

  1. The description does not say whether the Bible is divided into 365 parts for a daily annual reading program.

    • Cierra Klatt

Sorry, Clark! This Bible isn’t divided into a reading plan, the way our other reading plans and devotionals are. However, this product does have some end-matter that describes possible daily reading plans you could implement into your study!

I’m new to Chronological Bible’s, this answer confused me. Is this actually in chronological order or do you read a passage then have to hit the link to continue the order? I’m looking for one that’s chronological all the way through. Sorry this is confusing, I’m entering the winter of my life

        • Cierra Loux

It is in chronological order all the way through. 🙂

          • Congratulations on your marriage to Mr. Loux.

    • Cierra Klatt

Sorry, Paul! At this time, we don’t have a French version.

    • Pearline wallace

I would like to no what it cost for this bible

There was an NIV that was listed as chronological. It would take passages that had equivelants and meld them as one (like Samuel-Kings/Chronicles and the gospels. Does this order them like that, or in ‘standard’ fashion.

    • Cierra Klatt

Hm, I’m not sure if I understand your question entirely. But what I can tell you is that this Bible put every passage of Scripture into an era. In the front-matter, you are able to tap on a hyperlinked set of dates (such as, A.D. 30 to 31) and see all the Scripture that is dated for that time.

  3. If only this was available in the NKJV and not the “NotInspiredVersion”

    • Cierra Klatt

Right now, the product is listed for $24.99 on our website. This price is liable to change though! Our app is free, however. You can download it to nearly any iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, or Kindle device.

  4. Eloi Lopes

Good afternoon, is there a Bible in Portuguese or only in English?

    • Cierra Loux

Sadly, we don’t have the Chronological Study Bible in Portuguese! Sorry, Eloi!

  5. With the Chronological Study Bible, can you have the notes from another bible open in the study center at the same time? I.e. you’re reading the Chronological Study Bible and also have the notes from the Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible tracking with it in the study center? Would that work?

  6. Is your Chronological Bible available on/in your app?

    • Cierra Loux

Hey! It is available for purchase in the app, yes. 🙂

  7. Craig Adams

    Hi there

I am looking to buy this bible but if I am not entirely satisfied with the order or functionality, can I be refunded?

    Craig

    • Cierra Loux

Hi, Craig! Yes, you can be refunded. If you buy the study Bible through our website, we have a 30-day return policy. You can email support@olivetree.com to start the refund. If you purchase in the app itself, then the purchase is actually made through Google Play/Apple/etc. Then you would need to contact them for a return. So, we recommend purchasing through our website when possible.
