가톨릭 교회와 대한성공회, 일부 개신교 교회에서 예배용 성경으로 채택하여 읽고 있다. 개신교와 가톨릭이 공동으로 번역하였다. 쉬운 현대 한국어로 번역하였으며, “의미의 동등성”을 추구한 번역이다.

The Revised Common Translation was devised as an interconfessional work, with contributing scholars from both the Protestant and the Catholic traditions. The committee desired to create an accessible translation for the unchurched, free of terms that are specific to any particular church tradition.

The translation committee employed the dynamic equivalence approach, focusing on the most natural expression in Korean of the intended meaning of the text. In 1999, a revised edition was published after correcting some outdated spellings and making a few essential amendments to the text.
