Description
The Sovereignty of God, by A.W. Pink outlines the sovereignty of God from a Calvinist standpoint. He begins by defining God's sovereignty, then continues to explain its manifestation and implications on all of creation and salvation. Then Pink discusses God's sovereignty in relationship to the human will, our responsibilities, and prayer. Finally, Pink examines the appropriate attitude Christians should take towards God's sovereignty, as well as difficulties that Christian might have in adopting these attitudes.
A.W. Pink develops his position on sovereignty by examining the position of theologians before him, such as, St. Augustine, St. Aquinas, Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards. But rather than base his position on their conclusions, he lays the foundation of his argument in light of God's Word, believing true faith rests in the power of God acting through his will as laid out in scripture.
About the Author
Pink was a Baptist preacher who held pulpits in England, America, and Australia. He was known for literally quoting hundreds of verses of Scripture verbatim on the subject under discussion.
