Description
In Forgiveness: Unleashing a Transformational Process Larry D. Ellis addresses one of the most challenging topics, the receiving and giving of forgiveness. He addresses the historic Christian perspective of forgiveness being the sole responsibility of the one who has been hurt or offended. Ellis puts forth an extensive development from ancient documents, pivotal biblical passages, especially Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, and a number of traumatizing realities of the current time. His chapter on the Fictional Myths of Forgiveness is particularly insightful, exposing a number of cultural perspectives that presents a counterfeit imitation of forgiveness, which will never lead to full reconciliation between persons in great conflict.
The extensive study guide included in the book will greatly facilitate the reader to put what is learned into practice in their lives. This book is good for both individual and group reading and discussion.
"An individual or group reading this book and using the study guide will be drinking at the well of abundant life. The treatment of forgiveness and reconciliation is pastorally wise, practically judicious, and grounded on sound use of scripture as well as the best historical scholarship. Here is a rare work of profound doctrinal substance that is simple, readable, accessible, and urgently needed." — Rev. Dr. C. FitzSimons Allison, Retired Episcopal Bishop of South Carolina
"Dr. Ellis’ work communicates the truth that God reveals to us in the biblical narrative regarding forgiveness. After sharing his own journey of engagement by God and shift in understanding he uncovers the challenging process of forgiveness which will lead many readers to a similar paradigm shift. A study guide serves as a helpful accompaniment to his work. His work is thoughtful, insightful and calls the reader to a rootedness within the Christian world view and to a journey of discovery and profound Christian formation. — Rev. Dr. Larry Kochendorfer, Parish Pastor, Ascension Lutheran Church, Edmonton, Canada
"There is much here that is worthy of private thought and/or group discussion; but regardless of the attendant circumstances, Ellis's treatment of the twelve 'fictional myths about forgiveness' should be required reading for every Christian now." — Phyllis Tickle, Author, The Great Emergence
Dr. Larry D. Ellis has served as a bible teacher and minister of worship and music in Baptist, Presbyterian, and Episcopal churches in Denver, Colorado for approximately 30 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma. He earned a Masters of Worship Studies and Doctor of Worship Studies degrees at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship doing his research in Christian spiritual formation in the ancient church. He also did graduate studies in organ improvisation and choral conducting at Westminster Choir College, Princeton NJ. Dr. Ellis was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1987 and also has composed over 90 sacred musical works. He is the President/CEO of Adoration Publishing Company.

Reviews
"I wish every believer could have the opportunity to read the wonderful new book by Larry Ellis called Forgiveness: Unleashing a Transformational Process. We have all been hurt and wounded and need to have a basic understanding of the power of forgiveness. As one who daily helps pick up the pieces of wounded lives I can attest from first-hand experience how the enemy uses resentment and unforgiveness to ruin countless lives. There is no doubt in my mind that many lives will be transformed by the Godly wisdom contained in this book. I strongly recommend this volume as a vital resource in your ministry arsenal." — Dennis Jernigan, Worship Artist/Song Receiver/Board Member-Exodus International"An individual or group reading this book and using the study guide will be drinking at the well of abundant life.
