1978: Ny bibeloversettelse. Med dette hadde Bibelselskapet etter tjue års arbeid fullført en ny oversettelse fra grunnspråkene, og på nynorsk og bokmål samtidig. Målet var å få fram bibeltekstenes mening i en språkdrakt som er forståelig for dagens lesere (idiomatisk oversettelse, samme prinsipp som Luther i sin tid fulgte).
